Rentals

Extend a rental and document changes

Add time to an active rental, understand repricing, and formalize contract changes when needed.

Use Extend when the customer keeps the same equipment longer and you want the agreed pricing basis to carry into the added time. Editing a rental period can recalculate the entire rental using current product rates.

  1. Open Rentals, find the applicable rental, and choose Extend.
  2. In Extend rental, enter the New end date and time. Review the updated amount and availability before confirming.
  3. Select Extend rental to save the new end date. Reopen the rental and verify the period and receivables reflect the change.
  4. For a broader commercial change, choose Edit on the active rental, review the changes and effects, then select Save changes. This may reprice the rental.
  5. If a rental agreement has already been generated and your business needs a written record of the change, open the rental's Agreement area, select New amendment, enter a reason and effective date, and review the document before choosing Issue amendment.

Note: The Extend action is unavailable after a partial return; instead, edit the period of the equipment still with the customer where the rental allows it. An amendment requires an existing agreement. Have your legal advisor review agreement and amendment wording, deposit and waiver terms, and signature requirements before you send any template to a customer.

Next: Manage a recurring rental.
